A Place Called Home

A table full of strangers
Laughing and making merry
Spoonfuls of custard,
And bowls of gravy

Each living the moment
Heart fluttering with innocent ecstacy
None could fathom
Was it the wine or a fantasy

She sat there, looking at each
Soaking in the joy
Capturing the laughter
To relive on some rainy day

Flickering candlelight
Bounced off of rosy cheeks
The clinking of glasses
A music she still seeks

Who would’ve known
Strangers, as they once were
Would fill a table; and lives
With glee, and the heartache’d blur

Years down the line
Each would remember
Their story and hers
Like a shiny heart of amber
